President's Report

By Richard Volk, LAND President

It’s the end of September and I really don’t know where the month went!

My wheat harvest went exceptionally well and now we are into the bean harvest. The pinto beans will produce more than expected I think, so there will be some happy surprises.

Not too much happening at LAND , but we are still keeping up with what’s going on.

I get a chuckle, actually I get frustrated, when I listen to news commentators, newspaper reporters or different party members rip apart some of the greatest decisions of our time. What I am referring to, is our decision to topple the regime in Iraq. It might now look like a bad decision, but in the end it will prove to be right. You have to remember we are not a conquering nation as we are not trying to add more land. We have not gone into another country with out being asked. After we straighten them out and build them up , we let them form their own government.

So it is with property rights. Remember, there are those who would like to take those rights away from you and I. There is always some who have nothing else to do but sit in those plush offices and dream up new rules and regulations on how to make things harder for us. But you know what? I'll bet these people even live in wooden houses and drive cars that use oil and gas and even have electricity.

As always the Annual Meeting is coming up in December. Remember to invite your neighbor to join LAND. Share this newsletter with someone or contact the LAND office and ask for extra copies to spread around. We have to join together to protect our rights or we can’t holler when they are lost.

Until next month here’s hoping for a speedy and safe end to the harvest.
