President's Report

By Richard Volk, LAND President

I hope your harvest season has gone well and everything has been taken off the fields in fine shape. It has been one of the must frustrating for us in the northeastern part of the sate. There is still crop out that should have been harvested weeks ago.

I can’t help but think that Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate with so-called experts who insist global warming will destroy the world. If that was true, why was October thirty degrees below normal?

Well, so much for harvest and weather. What you, our members and friends, should keep in mind is the LAND Annual Meeting coming up December 3rd in Harvey. You’re going to be a part of LAND history, with the kick-off of our Foundation. Please mark the date on your calendar and come and bring your neighbors.

Ric Frost will be an exciting and informative speaker. He actually saw one of Dennis Miller’s articles in a farm publication and called Dennis to learn more about LAND. They started talking and learned just how many issues we have in common.

There will be many issues coming up in the Legislature this year that your Board needs direction on. We want and need input from the membership. The Annual Meeting and resolutions are an excellent way for you to help shape LAND policy.

Have a Thankful Thanksgiving. Isn’t it great to live in a country where we have so much to be thankful for?
