Those “founding fathers” felt that “reasonableness” and “common sense” needed to be used in administration of regulations. They saw LAND as a vehicle for spreading the word about property rights and influencing regulators.
Over the years, LAND has built a solid reputation as the voice of private property owners. We’ve taken on the hard issues and tried to learn from our mistakes. We’ve built coalitions with other like-minded organizations and attempted to help educate those who don’t understand the 5th Amendment. We’ve learned that some results are not visible at first. Sometimes it takes years to get the desired result.
Probably our greatest clear cut achievement was the repeal of the No Net Loss of Wetlands law. We challenged a law that made no sense, and, with the help of other groups, educated legislators to understand the issue.
Regardless of the obstacle, LAND meets the challenge head on. We’ve recently joined the Property Rights Congress, a new national group that will bring property rights issues to the forefront as never before.
Over the next few months we’ll print stories, letters and news from LAND’s first decade. If you have a favorite story or news clipping you’d like to share, please send it to LAND. We want to remember the past as we work for the future.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAND!
